Eversince I got here in WA my lips are always dry and chapped. I tried a lot of lip balms or lip moisturizer I still got the problem. Until the other day I was in Walmart and looking at the different lip treatment ointment, there is chapsticks, Aveeno lip moisturizer, burt's bees, and then Carmex. I bought Carmex. I am using it now and so far it is working good. It has cherry flavor but minty and you will feel a tingling sensation along with the minty feel to it. I hope this will solve my problem.

Lemon in Your Water

Do you always ask lemon with your drinking water when you dine in any restaurants? There was a study conducted by clinical Microbiologists about the lemon that we usually ask for our drinking water. The result was very disgusting. Accordingly, there were around 25 species of microorganisms or bacteria found in the lemon. It comes from either skin, saliva, environment, dust and even fecal matter. Can you believe how gross it is? This is very alarming. I don't usually have lemon in my water but if I ask I will let them know not to put it in my water. I want it separate. But the same thing, we do not know how long they have those lemons cut and exposed in the air. When you squeezed it to your water bacteria squeezed through with it as well. So from now on I will not ask lemon anymore for my water. You can read more on this news at Todayshow.com.

"Dinglet"

What comes first in your mind when you hear this word, "dinglet"? For me, I don't have any idea at all. But it is really funny that it is a gay term that means "little bading" in Pinoy gay lingo. Very cute name. I miss talking like one of my gay friends in the Philippines. See I already miss this one when back in the Philippines I easily grasp this kind of terminology. I guess it is because I don't have anybody here that talks to me that way. I am very amazed as well how Filipinos play with words. It is very ingenious. Back in college in Pinas me and my friends called each other "bayot", mga rampadora. I had fun though.

One Acquaintance a Month

Monday, February 25, 2008

I was talking to hubby this morning and I told him about my new acquaintances. I mentioned that I met a Filipina last month at Walmart. Then last Saturday I went to the Filipino resto down the road. The owner, whom I already befriended with, asked me again where we are staying. I told her our apartment and she said she has a friend that lives in the same apartment complex with. They are Filipino couple, D & L, with 2 kids and just got here last December. She called her friend and told her about me. Then last night L, my neighbor, called me and introduced herself. They are on their way to church and asked me if it is okay to see them after they got back from church. So then around 7pm I met them outside our building. They are very nice and I am looking forward to hang out with her or have a chit chat :-)

When She Cries

I call our DD crying diva because she has this style now that when she cries she will bury her face down. Onetime I put her in her playpen while I am in the kitchen cooking. She was trying to grab my attention by letting a shriek. I did not pay attention to her then she cried like she's being paid to cry :-) When I look at her she was lying on her stomach, face down her hands covering her face. I took a picture of her below.

My little crying dive. That's her style now when she cries. Acting like she's being abandoned.

Friday, February 22, 2008

I called my Mom yesterday when I learned that my niece passed the Nurse Licensure Exam in the Philippines. She said they are all very happy about the news. It so happen that Feb 21 is also my niece father's birthday. So my brother-in-law said it is a gift that his daughter passed the board exam. So today, in the Philippines, they will have a party, birthday party for my bro-in-law as well as thanksgiving celebration for my niece's passing the board. My Mom told me also that my brother who just got back from his work overseas will be there as well. They live in Cagayan de Oro City but they will go to our hometown for the celebration. We will be the only one who will not be there. All my bro and sis as well as their family will be there. It made me jealous. I wish I am there to celebrate with them. "Hanggang sa balita na lang ako" :-(

Savvy Shopper

Monday, February 18, 2008

Are you the type of person that brings shopping list when you do your grocery shopping? I tried it before but I somehow don't stick to it when I get to the store. This time I am trying to do it by heart. Since there's only me and Shiloh and mostly what I will buy is for her so I know I will be able to discipline myself to stick to what I have in my list. I read it in many article that in order for you to save more when shopping for food you have to organize and plan your menu for the week and just buy the ingredients for your menu. It does really help not only to save but also to have all what you need when you prepare your meals for the family. If I am going to apply all this I may become a savvy shopper real soon :-)

New Immigration Law Resource

I came here in the US using a fiance visa. I was having a hard time looking for more information about the type of visa that I am going to apply back then. Even my fiance then, now my husband, also helped in looking for fiance visa guide. I wish I found this new site VisaAmigo.com back when I was doing my immigration papers. This site has vast information about US immigration laws. They are up to date in their resources and give more information about immigration law issues. They launch the fiance visa guide, a step by step process of filing for fiance visa. This is very helpful to those who are now currently doing their petition and visa application. For all those who need more knowledge and information for US immigration laws and processing, check VisaAmigo.com

Walmart to Ditch HD DVD Soon?

Friday, February 15, 2008

I read on Yahoo news that Walmart will ditch out HD DVD soon in favor of Blu-Ray Disc. It will be hurtful on Toshiba company if that is so. Blu-Ray is popularized by Sony company. This means that we can't see or buy anymore HD DVD in Walmart. Blu-Ray is real good but it is expensive. The cost will be equal to 2 or 3 regular DVD. Maybe later on when a lot of people will be using Blu-Ray the cost will go down and will be more affordable.

Gas Heaters vs Electric Heaters

Here in our apartment we are using an electric heater that makes our electricity consumption high every month. I prefer to have a gas vent-free heaters because it is energy efficient. But since we are not in our own place yet I have to suck up the high energy bill. Once we can have our own place I will ensure that we can get a gas heater all over the house. I was looking online at gasheatersonline.com and they sells very efficient and cost-effective gas vent-free heaters that you can install in your homes. Their products are really a good alternative for your home heating needs. I will tell hubby to get it from them whenever we are ready to buy for our own home.

Shiloh's Outside Picture

Thursday, February 14, 2008

Shiloh's 9month birthday was on the 13th of this month. I mentioned from my previous post that it was a bright day as well as on that day. We were able then to go out and inhale some fresh air of winter. I took some photos of her in her walker. She was having fun except that it was chilling cold as well. So here are the pictures below:

Right outside our building.

The apartment building behind her. Glad we are on the first floor.

Behind is part of the complex we are living in showing other buildings and parking space /carports

Bright Day

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

I am so relieved to wake up this morning and the sun is shining so brightly. The whole day was sunny and I was able to go out without worrying to get wet. We went to Walmart and bought some baby stuffs and food. I was able to gas the car as well. When we got home I put the stuffs I bought away the I brought Shiloh out exposing her to the sun. It is still cold so I put on her warm clothes and brought the walker outside as well. We stayed outside for 15 minutes and went back in because her hands really felt chilly. She love being outside. She was smiling away while I played with her. I hope tomorrow will be sunny so I can bring her outside again.

Friendship Tag

Saturday, February 9, 2008

I got tagged by Chant. This is very nice for all my friends to contemplate to. So I would like to pass this on to Petra, Gina, Agnes, Roshidan and Lorie.

Anger is only one letter short of danger
If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;
If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.
Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.
He, who loses money, loses much;
He, who loses a friend, loses much more;
He, who loses faith, loses all.
Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from the mistakes of others
You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.
Friends, you and me…
You brought another friend…
And then there were 3…
We started our group…
Our circle of friends…
And like that circle…
There is no beginning or end…
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is mystery.
Today is a gift.

So now, let’s see how many circle’s of friends we can make by simply adding your link on this Friendship Meme!

Of Being Cooked-up

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Yeah me and Shiloh is cooked up in the house the whole day today. I was planning to go out and go to couple of stores but it is very windy and raining. The weather has been like this since last week when we had the snow storm. Yesterday we had the wind storm and until today. Last night the power was off twice because of the strong gust of wind. I readied my flash light in case it will happen again. So the whole day we just stayed home and I was able to start ironing. I started Shiloh's because it is already a big pile and overflowing the hamper. I am not done with it though. Then tomorrow I may iron mines. I am also sorting her clothes and take out those that she can't wear anymore. I guess I did a lot today :-)

Biometrics

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

It took very long for me to have my biometrics for my removal of conditional status. According to the Immigration it is due to the bulk of applications and they have back logs as well. I was supposed to be processed in Texas Service Center but was transferred to California Service Center instead.

I submitted my Removal of Conditional Status on September 2007 because my residence card will expire in December 2007. In October I received a notification that my resident card is extended for a year because my application is still in process. In November we moved here in Washington State. I notified the Immigration about our move and change of address. I received another Notice of Action for my Biometrics. The date of my supposed to be fingerprinting is December 22, 2007 and it is in Atlanta, GA. I got the notice in December 24 and it is a holiday so I waited until the 26 to call USCIS.

On December 26 I called USCIS about my NOA and told them that we already moved. I got the Notice Receipt of my change of address. I was told that I will go to Seattle Immigration Office on that day so they can change my schedule. She even told me that I will have my Biometrics that day. The same day we went to Seattle Immigration Office. I was happy because hubby was still here that time. When we got there I was so excited but only disappointed when the Immigration Officer told me that I will be given another schedule because they need the Notice of Action that says I have to go to Seattle to have my Biometrics done.

It was really disappointing but I can't do anything about it. Early January I got the new Notice of Action and my schedule is on February 4, 2008. Since hubby is not around I drove there by myself with Shiloh. It was my first time to drive a long drive. About an hour one way in Interstate 5. It wa really nerve-wracking. I was praying hard I will survive the drive without any glitch. But with God's grace I was able to arrive there and back home safe and sound.
I am glad that it is already taken cared of and I am only waiting now for my 10-year residency card. I hope I will get it soon. I am very anxious to have it.

Superbowl Sunday

Sunday, February 3, 2008

I am watching superbowl right now by myself, of course with Shiloh around. Before there's hubby but now I am watching alone. It seems like the teams, Giants and Patriots, are tight in their defense. I am rooting for the Giants, the underdog. Below is my chips and dip while watching the Superbowl :-)
Tostitos chips and Mango Salsa with Peach (very yummy)
