Last night when the contenders for American Idol sung Neil Diamond's song during the first round, Paula Abdul sound a little bit out of context and making some bizarre comments. She made her comments on Jason's first song as well as the "second song" when in fact they haven't been to the second round yet. Hmmm...zarre...
I am shocked Jason is still holding on. All the men contestants were safe and the two girls were at the bottom 2. I was guessing that Syesha will be voted out but instead it was Brooke. Well you can't really predict who will go since there are millions of voters.

Where in the World
is Matt Lauer? This is the new segment of the Today show that I am starting to like. It started on the 28th. It is very informational as well as pleasing to learn new things about certain places all over the world. Kudos to NBC for having this kind of show that will open the eyes of other nations that there is a place and beautiful culture that exists. I hope they will show more countries or places that haven't been given a chance to show to the world its uniqueness and the many things it can offer.

Wrestling with Barney
I usually put her stuffed toys on the end table so she will be encouraged to stand and cruise on the edges of the table. So this is what she is doing most of the time. Take all the toys down and then step on it or sometimes hug it and pin it down.

Au Naturelle Cosmetics
Being a woman we tend to use a lot of beauty enhancing products. There are lots of cosmetic brands in the market and we are hopping from one brand to another to get something that will suit as. I am a simple person and I don't go out on regular days with make up. I am just very simple. I am afraid to use cosmetics that is why if I buy one I am very cautious. I love using Organic Skincare especially those that are not tested on animals but humans. I have been looking for such products and then I found Ecco Bella Cosmetics. I can say they are au naturelle because their cosmetics are organic and guaranteed cruelty-free products. Using their beauty products will leave you conscience-free knowing that it will not cause blemishes on your beauty and it is environmentally friendly.

What To Do: Beauty Products Gone Bad
I love reading GoodHousekeeping magazine. It gives a lot of information on almost everything. Simple tips and tricks as well as giving insightful infos about new products in the market. They also have recipes that I like to try out once in a while.
I know all ladies uses cosmetics or any beauty products and some of us collects it too, right? And if you notice you have a bunch in your bathroom from years and years back, you might need to toss those that are gone bad. If you retain it in your bathroom it will only collect dusts as well as occupy space. Not only that you may be using it when it is already expired and bad to use.
So just make sure to check it's expiration date and if it's over you need to toss it away. Those that don't have expiration, below are the suggested toss-it-time according to GH mag:
* Skin care - read expiration date and those that don't have, if it is in pump bottles it can go after a year and others after 6 months in use.
* Nail Polish - 1 to 2 years
* Lipstick and gloss is 1 year and lipliner up to 2 years.
* Liquid eyeliners 3 months; cream eyeshadows 6 months; pencil eyeliners and powder eyeshadows 2 years.
* Mascara 3 months.
* Face Make-ups, 6 months for liquids and 2 years for powders.

Dancing with the Stars Update
The Dancing with the Stars are down to 6 celebrity contenders and last night they started dancing two dances. Christian dela Fuente pulled a muscle while they were dancing the 2nd dance, Latin dance. I hope he is okay and him and her partner Cheryl Burke will stay on. If I were to choose who am I going to vote out it be Shannon. Though she made a come back but still she is the weakest among them. When she's dancing her lower body, hip area, still not comfortable enough in dancing. She seem stiff and awkward. Tonight during the result Def Lepard will be singing and I can't wait.
CONTEST here.

Popcorn Machines
Monday, April 28, 2008
My husband love to watch movies all the time. It's either we go to the cinema or just staying at home and rent out DVDs. While watching of course some staples should not be missed out. We love to eat popcorn as well as chips and dip. I was telling him one day that we must check out for popcorn machines so we can get one. I love to make home made gourmet popcorn. It will be nice too if we invite friends with kids and watch a movie together and then had a ready snacks for everyone to partake. I think I will start looking online and surprise hubby with it.

Adult Immunization
To have a happy life one must also be healthy and fit. To keep away from any sickness our immune system must be strong to combat diseases. I read an article at GoodHousekeeping magazine that a lot of adults are not up to on their shots. It is best to ask your respective doctors to update what vaccine you missed.
I copied this below from the mag what adults should need and ask from their docs:
For chickenpox - you need to get this if you were born after 1979 and you haven't immunized or don't have the disease yet.
For tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (tdap) - you need this if you are under 65 who did not get a booster for the last 10 years.
For measles-mumps-rubella (mmr) - you need this if you are born after 1956 and haven't been vaccinated.
For pneumonia - you need this if you are 65 and older or those with chronic disease.
For shingles - you need this if you are 60 and over.
When fall comes it will be time for the flu shots again. Everyone is encourage to get flu shots as well.

LBC in our Area
I mentioned before that there is already an LBC service here in our area. When we were in GA I wished that there is an LBC there because we are sending balikbayan boxes to the Philippines. When we moved here, there is one service but it is far from where we live. I am glad that in March another branch was being opened. I called them a while ago because I have balikbayan box to send off. I was surprised that they are still on the promo period until the end of this month. Their promo charge for $35 for the biggest balikbayan box. Not bad. I need to call them very, very soon for pick up schedule.

Teleserye
One of the Filipino teleserye, soap opera, that I am following everyday is Palos. It ended yesterday. I hope they will have another show soon that I will watch. TFC have another offering soon but it is horror and I don't like watching it. I am looking forward for another drama shows.
I am waiting for another teleserye that I believe Judy Ann Santos and Derek Ramsey will star. I am a fan of Juday because she is very wholesome and so down to earth. Becoming a big star did not make her big headed that is why she is very blessed.

Caregiver
Sharon Cuneta, the Philippine Megastar, is shooting a movie Caregiver. She even shoots scenes in one of London's nursing home to make the movie more authentic. This movie will show how the OFW's working abroad as caregivers. Being away from your love ones, instead of caring for them you are caring someone else because you need to support your family. I can relate to this movie because I have been a caregiver here in the US. It is a worthwhile experience even if it is very hard. I am looking forward for this movie. I hope I will be able to get a copy when it will be in a DVD.

Treadmill
Treadmill is an exercise equipment that will do a lot of good to those who wants to get fit and healthy. This is a good way to do a cardio exercise. Increase your endurance and burn fats thereby increasing your body metabolism and sweating out excess body fats. I have been wanting to have one at home so we will not go to our apartment's gym or health club. My hubby's aunt before wanted to hand one down to us but we just don't have the means to get it. There are lots of treadmills in the market, but if we get one, I may get the same treadmill in the picture.

Rice Shortage
I heard on the local news here in our place about rice shortage. It was said that it is a world concern. In California where there are lots of Filipinos also feel the effect of the rice problems. One Costco store is limiting customer in purchasing rice. Watching the Today show this morning, Kathy Lee and Hoda, the anchors, were talking about food crisis as well. I hope that this will not become a world problem because it will be very scary. Although we should not do any panic buying but we just have to be prepared.

This has the superfoods that doctors are recommending and is rich with vitamins and minerals. I may have to try it after I have a check with my OB.

Selecting an Insurance
Insurance companies in the countries mushroomed up and you cannot decide which one is reliable and give you the best services. Almost everyday we can receive insurance fliers either term life insurance, car insurance, health or dental insurance and any other types of insurance. But those goes to the trash because we don't know what kind of company they have. To select an insurance make sure that the company has a good track record and is known to provide good service. Make sure also to check out with the BBB and I believe there is a way you can find if that insurance is good or bad online.

A Little Investing on the Sides
My Mom sent me a message through text to call her and it says important. If I read that kind of message I easily get nervous. But when I called her she said that she already did what I asked her the other day. I got relieved that it is not something I should get nervous about.
What it was is that I asked my Mom to go to my cooperative bank back in our town where I am a member. I thought my membership was already cut off because it's been years that I did not do anything about it. I was encouraged by a friend who also have a coop bank membership and her account is active and doing good. So I called the bank and asked my friend if I can activate it and maybe make a little investment. She said I can and I am still earning dividend through the years. That is very cool. So my Mom went there and got me another pass book. I am planning to put in a little amount and just save it there so when we go home we will have something to look forward to.

Save, Save and Save
Having a kid definitely change your perception in life. Although you have the drive in your life to have a bright future but with an addition in the family that drive is double. Your driving force will be your children that you are responsible for in giving them a good future. When I stopped working I was thinking if would we be able to put money in our savings accounts. Our household expenses was doubled because of having a child. If my husband is the only one who will bring home the bacon can we afford to save as well as spend? But in God's grace we're able to adjust to live with what we have and save some. So I guess if we just manage our finances well then we can still get through with just one income. And rule of thumb in getting to a more secure financial life is to save, save and save.

Wesley Snipe's Tax Case
I read on Yahoo news that the Blade star Wesley Snipes was sentenced for 3 years in prison. This is the verdict by the judged regarding his tax case. I heard about this tax evasion case of him way back. Accordingly this is a success on the prosecutors in giving him the maximum penalty. This will also set to deter high profile personalities or whoever will not pay and settle their taxes with the IRS.
In the Philippines I have heard a lot of news that businessmen are evading taxes. In my opinion, the government should not be lenient to them. They should make them pay in full not just the ordinary and small businesses.
