At the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is also a park with different species of flowers and plants. Some of the plants have labels, the name and its country of origin. For me it is very educational. I appreciate plants and flowers and having to learn where it came from is an added bonus.
I have here below some of the plants and shrubs that I get to snapped while we visited the place.
This is called hardy aloe - Aloe striatula that came from South Africa. I am not sure if this is the same as the aloe vera that is well-known to use for hair growth.
Next is called the pepper tree - Drimys lanceolata that originates from Australia. It has an interesting red stems.
The dappled willow has the scientific name of Salix integra. This came from Japan and it's Japanese name is Hakuro Nishiki.
And this wire-netting bush with zigzag branches that looks like a net covered with green leaves. This is a native from New Zealand. It's scientific name is Corokia cotoneaster.
