Proper Knife and Cutlery Storage

Knives represent a big investment for a professional chef or the average home cook; they are something you use every day and they need to be as sharp as possible but also handy to grab even when your hands are slippery or wet. That’s why proper knife storage is essential and there are many methods ranging from cutlery trays to knife protectors and all points in between.

Perhaps the most popular knife storage method is the knife block which typically rests on a kitchen countertop. Most knife blocks are set on an angle and feature slots designed to accommodate knifes of assorted shapes and sizes. If you own a chef or cook’s knife set it may have even included a knife block but most people find that over time they end up with knives that don’t fit in the block and they need an alternative storage solution.

The Kapoosh® knife storage system resembles s standard knife block but instead of featuring slots it is constructed with plastic rods which recall blades of grass; knifes or random shapes and sizes can be stored in any desired configuration with a Kapoosh knife block and the plastic insert is dishwasher safe. This is a great option if you have acquired an eclectic collection of knives over the years and need one place to house them all.

Another popular knife storage option is a wall-mounted magnetic knife rack. The disadvantage to this method is that you need handy and accessible wall space that can’t be reached by small children since the sharp knife blades will be exposed. Another storage method is to simply install a magnetic or fitted cutlery tray in a drawer.

Going to the Gym

I am not a vain person, but I can sense that my body is not healthy already. I have been sedentary and tried walking and jogging on a daily basis. Because of weather here in the northwest, I ended up inside the house most of the day when I don't have errands to do. Sitting in front of the computer while having my online study made me gain more weight in the past months.

The other week, some of my friends here that goes to the gym invited me to join with them. Honestly, it is a shame that we have a free resources for fitness at the base but I am lazy in going there. Anyways, I really forced myself to visit the gym at least three times a week. I wanted to exercise and become healthy. I am not getting any younger and heart disease runs in the family. I am hoping I can really keep up and be motivated to exercise more.

The above picture was taken by my friend while we are on cardio kickboxing session. We also go there for zumba and yoga as well as the abs, lower body toning exercises. Good thing about the gym on post is they also have free day care. You must have to go there early too since the service is a first come first serve basis.

Flattering Maternity Dress

Mother's to be or currently pregnant women can now have to choose different styles when it comes to maternity clothes. You can no longer sacrifice style and fear that you won't look good while pregnant because there are already clothing lines that caters to preggy Mommies. When I was pregnant back then I can still wear regular clothing in large sizes because I am petite. Here in the US my size during pregnancy is still below the standard size of most pregnant women. So when I go to specialty stores to buy maternity dress, I come out empty handed.

Now, when you go online and browse for maternity dresses, there are tons of sites that offers different styles of maternity clothes. If you check out maternity clothes.org.uk, you can see vast selections of flattering maternity dresses. The above style is really nice and so fashionable. This site showcased variety of top-quality brand maternity dresses that pregnant women would really love. Even myself is kinda jealous and wish I am pregnant so I can wear such nice outfit and show-off my bump.

I love the idea of some styles like the wrap-around maternity dresses, the stretchy maxi dress because this can be used throughout the duration of the pregnancy. It will save you from buying too many once you gain more weight as pregnancy progresses. At this online store also, they offers clothing for different occasion, may it be special event or just an ordinary day where you want to be comfortable. For those that needs maternity clothing for the hot summer, check this site out and see the wide array of their maternity dresses selections. I can't wait to tell my pregnant friend about this site.

Last Day of Preschool

Tuesday was our DD1's last day of preschool. Their last day was held at the park for a picnic. That day was a bit gloomy and nippy, but the good thing was it did not rain. The sun peeked at some point though. Our soon to be kindergartner was so happy to be at the park. I told her that it will be the last time she will see most of her classmates since they don't go to the same school for kindergarten. I think at first she thought all of them will be classmates again since she have some classmates that will go to the same school she will go for kindergarten.

I am glad that the director of her school asked all the parents if we all can share information like email and phone numbers just in case some of us wants our kids to have playdates or meet up for the kids to still keep in touch. This July, her school will have a summer school for 2 weeks and I am planning to enroll our DD1. They have different activities for that 2-week period from morning to noon, so I know DD1 will still be able to see some of her classmates that will enroll as well. She is very excited to be in school every day. I hope her enthusiasm will not fade until she finished college.

Convenience of Shopping Online

I know everything you can now buy online. From clothing, furniture, household items, flowers, food, medicines, are just few of what you can get online. If you don't like going out for grocery shopping, you can order everything online and it will be delivered to your house. The convenience of doing just about anything and this is not possible without the technology.

Even wellness equipment and weight loss pills and other weight loss related products you can check out online for reviews and where to get it. Like for example you can check out about phentermine at http://www.shoppharmacycounter.com/t-phentermine.aspx. I know some people love to buy stuff online. I am even liking the fact that I can shop at the comfort of my home. But there are also products that I want to see first in person before buying. I don't want the hassle of sending it back if I don't like what I will receive. For the most part, I love to shop online for the convenience it gives.

Weekend Roundup

Our weekend was interesting. Fridays is when our trash will be picked up. When I took the trash can from the curbside, I saw the rubber wheel came off. I tried putting it back, but it was so hard. I called our very good friend neighbor to help me out, but since it was already evening, I asked if they can come over in the morning instead. So we helped out in putting it back on Saturday morning. The engine oil that we put around the rubber helped a lot.

Then, this morning I backed up the truck from the garage because we are going to church. I miscalculated the side and the left side mirror struck the side of the garage wall tracks. The glass was not broken but it came off. The only thing that holds it are the two hooks. It can't be adjusted anymore. I have to wait for my husband if he wants me to wait for him to be fixed or I have to bring it to the shop.

Now I am driving with one side mirror taped to make it usable. I was very disappointed at myself, but our DD1 told me I it's okay because it was accident and I didn't mean it. I am glad that it happened in our house and not outside while I was driving. Despite what happened, we were still able to go to church and attended the service. If it was a way to stop us from going to church, then it did not hinder us. I was very glad we attended the service because the gospel was really great and we were able to celebrate Father's day even though our daddy is not around.

Cellphone Upgrade

When my husband did not surprise me with an iPhone early this year, then I think I will still have my blackberry until now. When iphone 3gs came out my husband already asked me if I want to upgrade my phone. Since our cellphone carrier that time don't carry iPhone, I opted for the blackberry as a smartphone. Last year, when our provider started to carry iPhone, I thought of switching to it. Then I thought, well maybe the latest version of the iPhone 4 will come out, so I waited.

Then iPhone 4S arrived and the hyped was high. When hubby asked me if I want to upgrade, I told him to wait if the iPhone 5 will come out late this year. Well, I am not really sure if it will come out soon. The husband already decided to upgrade my phone without my knowledge. I was surprised when he came home and brought the iPhone 4S. So now, I may have to have this phone for another one and a half years before I will decide to change it. The agreement for this is 2 years. Even if the new one comes out, I will not be in a hurry to upgrade it.

White and Red Hot Peep-Toe Pumps

Oh how I love this shoes! This is perfect for the July 4th holiday par-tay, agree? I saw this in shoedazzle site as one of the new arrivals on their collection. This is called Jeni, a white and red hot peep-toe pumps.

I love shoes and if I don't have the control to buy more pairs, I would have lots of pairs by now. This is why although I am so tempted to buy it, but I know I may only wear it once or twice and then it will just be in the closet just like the rest of my high-heeled shoes.

Another siter that I check out online for shoes are 6pm and amiclubwear. I also have memberships for other fashion sites where you can only buy their products if you are a member like this shoedazzle. Good thing I am not that addicted to shoes or else I'd be broke :-) For now I will just be contented of browsing and admiring shoes and maybe one day I will reward myself of one that I can carry to walk.

Staying Fit

What would you prefer? Attending a party without worrying about the foods that you need to avoid or attending a party where you could eat all the foods that you want? Of course you would prefer the second choice right? It’s really hard to enjoy eating when you need to avoid some foods that you’re actually dying to eat.

Whether you’re a girl or a boy, it is very important to stay fit. Not only staying fit would make you look good but also it will help you have a healthy lifestyle. Being healthy could make you live a better life simply because you wouldn’t need to worry about your health.

I always believe that each and every one of us loves to eat. Each of us has our favorite foods and it never fail to stress us if we can’t eat that certain food. Some call it cravings while for some they just got used to eating their favorite foods everyday. I don't have anything against eating too much because it’s our right as a person but I also believe that along with this right of ours, we should also take responsibility for it. If you want to have a healthy lifestyle, you should know that it is very important for you to eat a balance diet. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you should eat this and that. What I’m trying to say is that as long as you’re eating the right foods that would provide the nutrients that your body needs everyday then it’s fine. Just remember to avoid eating too many salty and sweet foods because it could lead you to some health problems in the future. And don’t forget to drink 8 glasses of water everyday.

First Time to Mow the Lawn

Ever since we moved in our house hubby does the mowing of our lawn. I do the weeding, planting flowers and other beautification. Since he can't do it because he is on training and very busy, I decided to mow our lawn this weekend.

Yesterday morning or doorbell rung. When I opened it, it was our neighbor's daughter asking me if I want our front lawn mowed. She said her Mom is mowing their lawn and asked if I need help with our yard. I got a little embarrassed, and so I went out and talk to her Mom. She said that is what they do sometimes too, helping the neighborhood. I asked her if it is okay and she said it's really fine.

So she mowed our front yard as well as the other neighbor's front yard. I just did the siding since her mower can't really cut the edges. It is really good to know your neighbors are that thoughtful and kind. I remember the last time my husband mowed our front yard he also included the side that we shared.

Since the mowing was started, I decided to do our backyard. It was my first time mowing the backyard and I am proud that I did it even though my arms are hurting afterwards. Until now I still feel the muscles in my arms kinda tight and painful. I may have to mow again after a week coz our grass really grows quick. Hubby put the Miracle Gro fertilizer all around so I think that is why it is  thick and growing fast. It was a good exercise I should say and happy that I was able to do it by myself without hubby's help.

The Fantastic Roadtrip-a-Matic on visitPA.com

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of PA Tourism for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

A very good friend of mine that lives in Pennsylvania been inviting us to visit them. As we don't have time yet, we told them that in the future we will. My husband said the last time he was there was during their family reunion and only spend few days there.
On the other note, if you are going to visit Pennsylvania and you don't know where to start, the Roadtrip-a-Matic where different pa-roadtrips are listed is a very good resource to avoid the headache of planning your travel. This site already have all the possible plans that you will have like, what sights and attractions to see, where to dine and stay, what are the different activities, events and festivals they have, and many other things to do while in PA. The site will greatly give you different ideas in planning your PA vacation.
Whenever we will have that time to visit PA, two of the roadtrips that I want my famiy to see are the Civil War Trails and Beyond as well as the Kidsylvania. I am fascinated with history and love to do a time travel. I also want the kids to experience it so they will be aware of what happened before in our history.
As for me, Roadtrip-a-Matic is really awesome for those who love roadtrips and don't want the hassle of planning a travel. Just visit the site and see for yourself what I am talking about. I commend those that made this site. It is really very helpful and really boost the tourism of Pennsylvania.

My Workspace

Until now we haven't done any painting in any of the rooms in our house. We are coming to our one year of moving here, and there are still lots of plans that haven't pushed through. My husband often said, we have another 29 years here, since we had the 30-year mortgage, we have plenty of time to do what we want to do, which I agree. We also need to slow down. I know moving can cost a lot and not to mention furnishing your space too.

Anyways, this is our old office table hutch from our old apartment that we brought when we moved. It's still in good condition and have enough shelves for my books and the desktop. I did some cleaning and organizing the other day since I am already done with school. On the left, not in the picture, is the matching bookcase where we put the all-in-one printer. I still have to rearrange and organize the knick-knacks we have on there.

I need to make this home office more organize so I will be motivated once I can start working as an MT. I am now in the process of finishing my resume and hopefully send it to possible employers as soon as possible. I am hoping also to have a successful career as a Medical Transcriptionist, working at home and still be with my little kids.

New Quaker Soft Baked Bars

This post brought to you by Quaker Oats. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I was still working, I always have a stash of granola bars in my pocket book. Sometimes I go to work with no breakfast because I woke up late, so having something on the go is a must for me. When i do grocery shopping I make sure I get some not only for myself but for my husband and kids as well. Quaker has now a new line of breakfast snack that I am pretty sure we would love to eat. This is the Quaker Soft Baked Bar.

This new snack bar is made with real fruits and nuts. You can eat in on-the-go or you can warm it up in the microwave. It comes with two very yummy flavors, the cinnamon pecan bread and the banana nut bread that can get you through to the next meal. Not only these treats just tasty but also contains 140 calories, 5 g of fiber, 5 g of protein, and is an excellent source of 5 B-vitamins to boast.

I cannot wait to taste these soft baked bars from Quaker. I like to give my family wholesome food, and I believe this new Quaker bar will be the next food staple in our household. I would say I will like the cinnamon pecan bread the most because I like cinnamon and pecans. My girls would love the banana nut bread since they love to eat banana a lot. Hmmm...i can almost taste it just by looking at the picture below. Looks so delicious and  mouth-watering.

I may have to check out the store tomorrow since I cannot wait to taste this new Quaker soft baked bars. This is very timely since I am doing some exercise regimen as well as running. This will be a good energy booster for me to get by on my daily exercise fitness.

Another Gift Idea for Father's Day

Father's day is fast approaching and I know it is that time of the year again to give our fathers, husbands, and partner's something to remind them of their being a Dad and how great a father they are. I don't know what to get my husband. Another thing is he will not be here on that day because of her job. I thought of just waiting to give him our presents when he gets back.

Anyways, if your husband, father, or partner is a kind of person that does heavy work using his hands, a good gift that is beneficial to him is a good idea to get. Right now there is a tillman gloves sale going on where you can get a heavy duty gloves for the hardworking man of your life. My husband has a gloves that he really like using every time he does some lifting and working on the vehicles. But that gloves are already worn out and it's time to get him a new pair. I am thinking of getting one too for him. I hope he will like it.

Charlie Safari Day

On Tuesday a friend asked me if I want to join them with her kids to the Charlie Safari, an indoor play area for the kids. Since we don't have things to do and it was a little bit nippy to go to the park, we decided to go. Our girls were very happy that they will have a play date with their friends. This friend of mine also have two kids the same age as our DD1 and DD2, and her eldest is DD1's classmate in preschool as well.

Since our DD1 is already 5 years old, she no longer belong to the tykes who can only play at the Tyke Village, which is $5+ entrance fee. She pays $9+ and plays at all the areas. Our DD2, although belongs to the tykes, she wants to join her sister to slide and bounce in the big kids' areas. She is very fearless. The slide above was really high for age, but she climbed and sled like she is a big girl. I just waited at the foot of the slide and took her pic.

On the other hand, our DD1 is now becoming more and more daring. She love to try the different heights of slides and can climb without any help. When she was DD2's age I have to climb and slide with her. I am glad that her confidence level is starting to level up. She dares more obstacles now and is excited with her accomplishments every time.

Avoiding Employment Woes

Our work or job is one's life security in order to survive. The work gives us the ability to feed our family and get the things that we need. If we are not employed it will be very stressful because we have to find solution on what to put on our table for our family. If we have work we also have to be mindful that we are working for somebody, unless we have our own business and we are our own boss.

There are times that our work also causes stress. I have lots of friends and even family members that rants about how stressful their jobs. I also experienced it before. I also heard about how stress ballooned up and ended up battling some legal issues. When this aroused, employment lawyer is needed for the employee or employer to solve the issues.

This is why an employment law is established so that rights of both the employees and employers are protected. For me as much as possible, the best thing to do when you are working is to abide by the rules and regulations of your workplace. When you feel that your employer is violating your rights, and you are wrongfully dismissed, you have the say to that matter. The same goes with employers who are abused by employees. This will need a good employment lawyer to arbitrate or sometimes to settle the issue in an amicable manner.

For me, when I work I always read and understand my job's handbook and apply what is expected of me in my workplace. The stress that I felt while working was my time spent much at work instead with my kids. But even though I felt those, I don't bring it to my workplace. With pride, I can say that all my employers that I worked with here in the US were very happy with my performance and often told me if they have the choice they won't let me go and if in the future I need work I can always count on them.
