Locksmith to the Rescue

Have you ever experienced being locked out of your house or car? Well, I did. I was locked out of my own vehicle while the engine was still running and my purse was still inside along with my cellphone. I was really shaken and the good thing was I already took my daughter out of her car seat and out of the car. That time, the locksmith or auto rescue was really my savior.

Speaking of locksmith, a calgary locksmith gives out an excellent service for all locksmith works that their folks need out there. This quick lock works service will do any emergencies for locked car doors or house and even establishments. It is good to work with reliable locksmith as this is very important in our safety as well. Once our doors are unlocked, it sure needs new fixture to make sure it will be safe at all times. A friend who is living in Calgary can definitely use the services of locksmith calgary nw when they have problems with their locks in their house or cars.

Anyhow, I remember there was an investigation about locksmiths here in the US at Today Show and they were showing how some of these locksmiths can really rip people off. They over charge with their labor cost and some making the problem more worst and asking for a lot of charges on top of the other. So, if in case you need locksmith to the rescue of being locked out of you car or house, make sure to get a professional one and very prompt in doing their job.

Mall Play Area

The mall's play area is one helpful place for shoppers with kids. We know that kids easily gets bored when mommies are shopping. Good thing is, when they starts to get antsy and cranky we can just bring them to the play area and have them release their energy and cure their boredom. They get to run around, climb, hop and jump and slide.

Last Tuesday, after being bored at home because of the gloomy weather, we decided to drive to the mall and just walk around. It's our exercise as well as it is nippy to walk around the parks' trail. After we did a full circle around the mall and checked out some shops, we brought the kids to the play area. There were only few kids playing as it is already past 6 pm. Our girls were happy and played for a good 30 minutes then we decided to head home.

Our youngest was the one so excited as she can now run around the place without me always minding her not to do this and that coz she's very little. She said she is already a big girl and she can do what her big sissy can do too.

The Break Up…

Guest written by our friend Gladys Fuentes.

I think you learn a lot about a person by living with them. When my girlfriend and I decided to move in together it was a more of a monetary thing – I was buying this house regardless and instead of taking on a real roommate, I decided it made more sense for her to just move in and pay me for the mortgage. It was working out great for the first few weeks but I have to say, I think that was the honeymoon period. After a while I got tired of picking up her dirty laundry and worrying over whether or not she’d actually gone to http://www.electriccompaniesindallas.com to see if we had the lowest energy rates possible. I didn’t like the way she didn’t tell me what time she’d be home and she never, ever cooked. Isn’t that supposed to be the woman’s job…cooking!? Anyway, she started pressuring me after we moved in together to get engaged and that was enough for me. I loved her but she was really starting to grate on me and I knew I had to end it pretty quickly. The problem is, once you live with someone it’s much harder to break up; I guess that’s why everyone tells you not to live with someone unless you know you’re going to get married. That’s one piece of advice I sure wish I had taken! Anyway, I loved Sheila but I’m really glad we broke up. I think it was tough in the short term and it was certainly awkward having to help her move all her stuff out of the house but at the end of the day we just weren’t right for each other and I know she wasn’t all that happy, either. She’s going to be better off with whoever she ends up with because I wasn’t the right guy for her. No one wants to live in a house where you’re fighting all the time and that includes me!

I Want To Grow Old Loving You

May is my birth month. Honestly, I do not expect anything anymore from my loved ones as I am happy with what I have. As long as I have my family and knowing they are all healthy, happy and living good, then I am the happiest. But of course those that loves us always get something to make us more happy and also showing their appreciation to us. This extra effort is really a blessing and I am always thankful to God.

My husband's birthday card for me is what I really appreciate the most. He said he picked this card as it is very appropriate of what he feels for me and in our relationship being married for almost 9 years. He said he always thank the Lord for having me and giving me more years to be with him. He promised he wants to grow old loving me [kilig much!] Yeah, I also want to grow old loving him. We do not have the guarantee of what the future holds, but if we work together and be true to what we promise in the Lord, He will surely bless us with more wonderful years, that is until our hair turns gray and we walk with cane and oxygen in tow.

This is what the card says:

"There is nothing I would rather do than live my life in love with you-
The fun that being with you brings, Our memories made of little things....
The talks we have, the jokes we share, The hugs, the kisses here and there...
What better reason could there be, To ask you to grow old with me!"

Outdoor Refreshment in Time of Summer

Summer is just around the corner. I can see neighbors who are sprucing up their backyards, decorating it with colorful flowers, outdoor patio with beautiful cushions, and opening up their umbrellas. Couple of weeks ago we did have a nice temperature in the 70's to 80's, then this past week we have some overcast.

I think when summer comes, we will have a great sunny temperature, I hope so. And what more would be nice than to plan an outdoor fun during these times. So, I guess we can plan ahead some outdoor fun for the fam-bam and also having a good refreshment to partake, isn't it?

Taking out the summery table setting with summer coolers using acrylic drinkware for refreshment drink container would be a good start. I wish I can find a good deal on summer outdoor wares that the kids can use without fear of breaking it.

A friend already cook up some plans to have a white summer garden party in their backyard. We are going to meet up with some other friends to discuss the details of this. We are all very excited and hopefully this will be a success.

Surprise Baby Shower for a Friend

On Friday we had a surprise baby shower for a friend. It was a short-noticed baby shower hosted by another friend, planned like a day and half or two. We had it in the house of the friend who planned it. Good thing we are all ready-set-go moms that we can function well more under pressure.

So, the party was potluck. We bring whatever we can bring. The hostess was so crafty that she was able to come up with decors that only cost her 10 bucks. Almost all materials used were found in their house. I think if we can just be creative enough, decorating a party should not be that costly. Here are few pictures, taken by a friend, of the food table setting we had that day.
We had a French theme as the name of the baby accordingly will be "Paris."
The French country table setting utilizing a white umbrella inverted as a chandelier and the tissue paper from previous gifts recycled into a paper ball hanging decor.
The cardeaux = presents/gifts were placed in an old luggage right next to the table.

DC Clamp Ammeter for the Home

Having a mechanically and electrically-inclined husband is a good thing. We are saving money for car repairs since he is the one doing it and we will just buy the parts. When it comes to electric repairs, of course it is a must to go for the professional. But on another note, my husband wanted to learn and become certified once he retires from the service so he can do any electrical repairs and installations in our home. Being a homeowner this type of skills is also a good thing.

When my husband installed the new lighting and ceiling fan in the house, he also bought some tools to make sure he is doing the right thing, like electrical sensor for testing the electrical current before taking out the old ones and also making sure everything is good to go before he replace the light fixture. He was thinking of later on getting a portable dc clamp ammeter for the home for future use. I am so anal about any electrical lines in the house not properly installed as we all know that faulty electrical wiring can cause fire and total damage of any properties.

I have seen online about Swain meter instruments, like the clamp on ammeters in picture above, that can measure the magnitude and direction of DC current flow on any conductor with precision. It can accurately read the current from 5mA to 200 amps with a resolution of 1mA in the 0-2Amp range. With Swain, they make sure all their meters are build by capable technician by hand and calibrate it with precision, that is according to exact specifications. This will be a great tool for my husband to use as it is portable and is one of kind once he will become a certified electrician.

Christian Fiction Books

When it comes to deciding on what are the best Christian fiction books of all time, the name that comes up the most often is C.S. Lewis. Regarded as one of the best authors of all time, his children's book series The Chronicles of Narnia have transcended above a simple series of books through movies, plays, and television to become a treasured piece of literature for all ages. While most people are familiar with the Narnia books, many do not realize that C.S. Lewis also wrote other books of Christian fiction. In The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis takes a different look at what it means to be a Christian by telling a story through the eyes of those trying to corrupt the soul. In the novel, a senior demon named Screwtape mentors his nephew Wormwood on how to secure the damnation of a man known only as the Patient. The story is a series of letters that the uncle sends to the nephew defining what it means to be a typical Christian. Through a satirical look at the temptations and failings of the human soul, Screwtape gives advice to the younger demon on how to undermine faith and promote sin within the Patient. These observations on human nature are sometimes funny and sometimes serious, but offer a unique look at the nature of Man and his role in not only Christian doctrine, but in all endeavors of life. While some considered The Screwtape Letters a book relating only to Christians, it is a novel that truly defines the role of religion in human nature and the importance in understanding humanity.

Our Girls Won a Kid's Tractor

Last Saturday, May 4th, we went to an Air Force Base and they have a pet show there. During the pet show the organizer also have raffle going on and the price would be a kid's tractor. We don't know what the tractor looks like so we did not bother about it. But before we left, the lady, one of the organizers told us if we wanted to enter for the raffle. Hubby said sure and he filled up the small forms that they have and put our eldest daughter's name.

Yesterday one of the managers at the Air Force Exchange called and told us that our daughter won the kid's tractor. We were very thrilled. We told the girls about it and they're very excited as well. We went to the Exchange and picked up the tractor. We both drove our vehicle as hubby anticipated it is a big one. He asked the manager and she said it is a little long because they assembled it already.

The raffle was sponsored by Purina, the popular maker of pet foods. We are very happy and so lucky that we won the prize. Our girls now have something they can drive around the neighborhood aside from their bicycles.

Yoga as Physical Exercise

Before I got pregnant with our first child, I attended yoga in our apartment complex. They have different exercise classes and I thought yoga would be nice to practice. At first I was really exhausted as you have to make sure you have the correct posture and concentration. Nowadays, yoga is associated more on as physical exercise. In the ancient times, it is known as the physical, mental, and spiritual discipline and even called as the "union with the divine."

A friend of mine asks me many times to go with her doing yoga. She is attending a bikram yoga sessions and she said it is really a good physical conditioning. I would love to join her one day, and this means I have to get my yoga mat a yoga mat strap as mine is torn. I think this is what I need now as I really need to have mental and spiritual conditioning also not just physical. The stress of the body can really consume us if we don't act on de-stressing.

Distance Learning for Busy Moms

I am not new to distance learning online as I have been taking classes online while at the comfort of our home. I had my medical transcription certificate finished in an online setting as well as other courses I took in the community college here in our place. Distance learning for me is really good as I have kids to attend to. I cannot afford to place them in day care while going to and from a regular school. At first, I thought I won't be able to manage it, but because I have to pace myself and have my time to do school work, I was able to adjust the whole thing. I would say it is very convenient. Although I still want to go for a regular classes, online classes offers a great alternative to achieving your education goals.

So when a friend of mine talked about going back to school, I told her to check out going distance learning. There are lots of options you can do when it comes to checking different degrees and schools to go. Since she wanted to check out criminal justice degrees, I offered to help her get information about it. Right now my friend is almost done with her associate degree and she is also very happy for taking the distance education.

As a busy parent and wanting to finish a degree, this is a great idea and means to go. Distance learning may sound difficult, but in my experience it is doable. I was very glad I made the decision and now I am done with my program. I am now looking for another classes to go as I wanted to proceed to the next level and hopefully to get the degree that I really want. So for those who want to continue their education and no time to go to a regular class distance learning is the best alternative.

Marathon Maniacs

I really admire people that loves to run and even join marathons. I think they have the determination and endurance to complete a race and also proud in giving back as I know most love to do it for charity. It is a known fact that when joining you also have to shell out money for the registration. Some people would even go over and beyond for it and those that are really into it will go to other places just to run the marathon. Our kindergartner's teacher said to me this morning that she will go to Canada and run for a marathon their in June.

When hubby started running a marathon he discovered the Marathon Maniacs organization. He checked it out and then wanted to become a part of it. Like any other organization they do have requirements. They have certain level of membership. Hubby belongs to the first level, the bronze level. In order to qualify for this you have to run 2 marathons within a 16-day period or 3 marathons within a 90-day period.

In 2011 when hubby learned of it, he ran 2 marathons in a 2-week period. So it qualifies him to be in bronze level. He registered for it and he got accepted and now he is a proud member of the Marathon Maniacs. The organization just had their 10th anniversary yesterday and during the race they were also having program going on and even had a party last night. Hubby wanted to attend but decided to just stay home and rest his sore feet and painful knees.

Unpacking Unopened Boxes

When we were moving the unpacking was the most tiring to do. Good thing with our big stuffs, the movers were able to help us put it in the right rooms so lifting it by ourselves was less stressful. For most of the boxes we opened it of course with the help of box cutters. Those are our handy-dandy tool the whole time we unpacked.

But like other people who are on the move a lot, military families, we still have unopened boxes stored. Mostly are books and some linens that I know we will not be using often. But gladly we labeled each boxes so finding stuff is not that hard.

A friend of mine who just moved to Korea for their permanent duty station told me that in few weeks she will be very busy unpacking. Their things were shipped over there and will arrive in few more weeks. I can feel her and I maybe next year we will be doing the same if we will move to another duty station. If that happens, our unopened boxes will not be opened again and will be moved to another duty station.

Beautiful Saturday

This weekend and for the coming days we will have a nice, sunny weather. Our temperature is in the 70's and we are liking the outdoors. We had a great Saturday. We all woke up and got ready early. We decided to have brunch in a restaurant as we really didn't feel like cooking. Hubby thought of going to IHOP but instead we went to Old Country Buffet. They have all-American breakfast that is being served until 11 a.m. For all 4 of us we only paid $19+ and we had a military discount.

After the brunch we did errands and then went to an Air Force Base Exchange. We did not know that there's an event going on. There was a Dog Show. People bringing their pets and there were contests as well for pets who have great tricks. There was also a presentation from the county sheriff department with their K-9 bomb squad team. The police officer handler of the bomb sniffing dog was also there and demonstrated how the dog search for any explosives. It was really amazing how the dog spotted the target and sits on it and waits for his treat.

While watching, we were also given a raffle ticket for some prizes. Both our girls' tickets were chosen. So they were able to spin for a price and won grab bags. We got two grab bags and we are going to give the other bag to our friend who have a pet so they can use it as well. We enjoyed the pet show, especially seeing different pets and their tricks.

Our day ended with the kids playing outside with the neighbors kids. A neighbor had an inflatable swimming pool for kids set up outside and the kids were playing water gun and then went around the block driving. Tomorrow will be another sunny day and we will be going to watch the Tacoma Marathon as our Daddy will be there running/ This will be his third year running for this marathon and we are very proud of him.
