Renew Crew of Little Rock

Your home is a huge investment. Therefore, you should do your best to keep it looking beautiful. This is especially true if you will be selling your home in the near future. There is never a more important time for you to make your home look great than when potential buyers will be coming by every day to see it. The better your house looks, the more offers you will get for it. The exterior appearance of your home is extremely important. This will determine a potential buyer's first impression of your home. Here are a few of the ways to improve the curb appeal of your home.

 1. Hire a professional landscaper

You may have never needed to hire a landscaper before because you cut the lawn and trimmed the bushes. However, it is worth the money to hire a landscaper when you are trying to sell your home. You need your lawn, trees and bushes to look flawless. All of the tree branches need to be trimmed back so they are not touching the sides of your house. These branches may be too high for you to reach. A landscaper will have the necessary tools to do this. If your lawn is brown because it has not been getting enough water, a landscaper can water it and lay down fertilizer so it will grow properly. Do not show your home to potential buyers until your yard looks immaculate.

2. Pressure wash your house

Pressure washing has become a very popular way for people to clean the exteriors of homes and buildings. People also use pressure washing as a way to clean their decks. It is a very effective method to remove dirt, bird feces and other forms of debris that get splattered on outdoor surfaces. A thorough pressure washing will give your home a sparkle and shine that will be very attractive to any potential buyers who stop by for a viewing. Renew Crew of Little Rock offers pressure washing services at a competitive price. Visit to learn more.

3. Have siding installed

If you have a house that has faded and peeling paint on it, this is sure to turn off many people who come to take a look at it. Therefore, you might want to consider having aluminum or vinyl siding installed. This will drastically improve the appearance of your home. It will also eliminate your peeling paint problem.

DD2's First Day of School

As I mentioned in my previous post, our DD2 started her kindergarten on September 14. She was very happy and said she was shy meeting new friends but all in all her day went by awesomely. I wasn't able to go with them to school that day coz I went back to work so hubby was the one dropping them off.

I made a sign for her first day of school and had her posed with it before I went to work. When I got home she told me she got a lot of compliments about her sign. I did not know that my husband brought her to school and had her posed outside the school building holding the sign. She added that she was happy I made the sign.

Our kindergartner beaming with her first day of school sign :-)

5 Amazing Ideas for Renovating Your Kitchen

Renovations to a kitchen can give you the capacity to be creative. It can go beyond simply choosing new colors and materials for counter tops or selecting the right pattern for the flooring. Depending on your budget and imagination, there is so much more you can do to the kitchen.

Built-in Island/Table

If you have a large enough floor space, you can incorporate a dining table into an island in the center of the kitchen. This may be perfect for small families that don't have the room to set up a full-sized dining table while giving you a surface to prepare food. Using chairs that match the aesthetics of the room may give it even more appeal.

A skylight can be an incredible addition to the kitchen. It offers natural light while promoting a view of the sky. Many homeowners add skylights to help enhance the overall feel of a room as it may seem more lively. If you use bright colors in the kitchen, these windows can make the room look a great deal luminous than it was before.

Natural Stone Work

Adding natural stone can emulate an outdoor setting while making the kitchen look unique. Stone counter tops, walls and floors also deliver an incredibly long lifespan. When it comes to surfaces that can withstand decades of foot-traffic and use, very few materials can surpass natural stone. The only drawback to this kind of renovation is the weight of the materials.

Built-in Shelving

Shelves that are built directly into the walls can make the room seem more open than with cupboards lining the entire length of the kitchen. While you may want cabinets for some items, you can really open a room up if you can build as much into the wall as possible.

Miniature Waterfall

A miniature waterfall built directly into the walls themselves offers a unique appearance that may impress guests. It doesn't take much to create one of these permanent fixtures, and they can provide the same relaxation as rock fountains that you can buy at many stores. The only real difference is that a permanent fixture can promote a unique sense of style for the kitchen.

If you need inspiration, you can learn more about what you can have done to virtually any room in the house. It's all about creating a look and feel that is perfect for you and the family. As long as you're comfortable with the outcome, there is really no right or wrong way to design the kitchen of our dreams.

School Year 2015 - 2016

The school just started today here in our county and our little students were very excited. Our third grader started today and the kindergartner will officially start on Monday. I am so grateful that kindergarten is now offered whole day for free in our school district. Until last year the whole day kindergarten had a monthly tuition of $340 and free for half day. Good thing the school district got more federal funding and our school were able to add 3 classrooms of whole day kindergarten.

The school where our kids go to is doing renovation so it is under construction until next fall. Our DD1's classroom is in a portable for now. She said it feels different to be in a portable compared to be inside the building. I hope she remains enthusiastic the whole school year as she is right now. She loves school so that makes her more motivated.

Our DD2 is a bit disappointed though that she gets to go to school on Monday. She keep saying she can't wait to go to school. I am glad that she also shows enthusiasm in learning more and going to school. Tomorrow we will have a conference with her kindergarten teacher to talk about expectations and also about WaKIDS or what is known as Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills.

Our 3rd grader excited to pose for her first day of school.

Five Helpful Suggestions for Choosing a Walk-in Freezer for Your Restaurant

Many commercial freezer merchants sell walk-in freezers that are designed to meet the needs of restaurants. Here are five helpful suggestions for choosing a walk-in freezer that are easy to use while you shop:

Choose a Storage Capacity
Walk-in freezers have storage capacities that vary considerably. Choosing one of these storage capacities is necessary because it can help you determine how much space you will need to freeze food properly.

One way to choose the proper storage capacity for restaurant-quality walk-in freezers is to remember to use the following tips while comparing storage capacities:

Consider how much food your restaurant uses each day. Choose a storage capacity that can help you freeze food properly without wasting energy. Choose a storage capacity that fits naturally with your restaurant's kitchen design.

Choose a Locking Mechanism Most walk-in freezers use locking mechanisms that offer an easy way to secure its contents. Some of these locking mechanisms include:

Deadbolt locking mechanisms. Handle locks. Lock-and-key systems.

Look for Polyurethane Insulated Panels Polyurethane insulated panels are insulators that are designed to keep food cold by absorbing cold air through the panels’ surfaces. Choosing walk-in freezers that have these insulators is worthwhile because they offer the best way to keep food cold without wasting energy.

Look for Galvanized Aluminum Floors Many walk-in freezers that are used in restaurants have galvanized aluminum floors that are designed to be easy to clean. Choosing walk-in freezers that have these floors is recommended because they offer an economical way to keep your freezers clean that is easy to incorporate into your restaurant's kitchen design.

Add a Drip Guard Drip guards are small pieces of rubber or plastic that are attached to the bottom of a freezer's doors. Most walk-in freezers use these devices to keep condensation from dripping on your floor. As a result, adding a drip guard is an easy way to prevent safety problems that can make using a walk-in freezer difficult.

As you may have noticed, choosing a walk-in freezer for your restaurant requires choosing a freezer that offers the best design and storage capacity. Be sure to use the suggestions mentioned above to choose a walk-in freezer for your restaurant that features these useful design elements.

Features to Look for in Coffee Mugs for Restaurants

An individual who decides to open a restaurant has dozens of things on his or her to-do list. One of the most important things on that list is to get a reliable collection of dishes. Furthermore, if the restaurant plans to offer a selection of specialty coffees the owner needs to purchase the perfect diner coffee mugs. Learn what a restaurant owner should look for when choosing a supply of coffee mugs.

A coffee mug used in a restaurant should be made of quality material. As a general rule, many mugs and other dishes end up on the floor in a restaurant. A mug may be dropped as it is being put into a dishwasher. Or, one may be dropped by a customer who is sitting at the counter having a meal. A mug that is made of durable materials is less likely to break when it is dropped than one made of flimsy material. In short, having well-made coffee mugs can save a restaurant owner money on replacement dishes.

An Attractive Appearance

Successful restaurant owners understand that customers pay attention to both the quality as well as the presentation of food and drink. So, it’s important to have attractive dishes that add to the presentation of the items on the menu. Many diners like to remember the entire dining experience including the tastes, sights, sounds and aromas in a restaurant. Delicious coffee is all the more enjoyable when served in an appealing mug.

A Memorable Touch

A restaurant owner is wise to look for coffee mugs that can be personalized. Printing the name of the restaurant on the side of a coffee mug is an effective way to make an impression on customers. In fact, many restaurants sell coffee mugs that display their name. The customer gets a beautiful coffee mug bearing the name of the restaurant and the restaurant owner takes advantage of some free advertising.

Finally, an owner should keep in mind that all of the dishes as well as the décor add to the overall tone of an eatery. Customers will return to a restaurant where they feel relaxed and welcome. So, paying close attention to every detail of the supplies and décor can move an owner closer to opening a successful eatery.

The Importance of Hiring a Company That Offers Alarm Monitoring

Some homeowners think that simply having a home security system is enough to keep criminals at bay. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. While a home security system triggers an alarm if someone breaks into your home, it might not immediately contact the police. Here are some of the main reasons why having an alarm monitoring company watching over your home is a must.

Protection While You're Away

Let's say that you're on vacation or at work when your home alarm goes off. You're not there to hear it, so there's no way that you can contact the police. If you're lucky, your neighbors might hear the alarm and contact the police on your behalf, but if they're not home, you're completely defenseless if the alarm doesn't chase away the home invader. Hiring a company that offers alarm monitoring give you a team of highly trained professionals to always watch your home.

Protection While You're at Home

Of course, a monitoring company doesn't just protect your home while you're away; it protects you while you're at home as well. If your alarm goes off while you're at home and you go downstairs to check it out, you may find yourself confronted with armed robbers. If they force you to turn off your alarm, there is a good chance that no one will even know that you're in trouble. A monitoring system will notice that your alarm has been tripped and dispatch the police right away. This keeps you and your family safe.

Security Codes

Another cool feature that monitoring companies typically offer is a pass code system, which protects you in the event that you're confronted by an intruder who has asked you to turn off the alarm. With a special pass code, you can turn off the alarm while warning the monitoring company that you are under distress. All of this is done without the intruders even knowing that you just called for help.

Alarm monitoring companies have people like you covered from every angle. For example, many jurisdictions charge homeowners a fine for a false alarm. With a monitoring company, you can be informed that your alarm has been triggered and take action to turn it off. These are just a few of the ways that a monitoring company can protect your home 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

How to Grieve the Loss of a Loved One

Losing a loved one is something that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. Whether you lose a parent, grandparent, child or close friend, you may need some time to cope with your loss and figure out how to move on with your life. Though you feel down and sad right now, you will eventually learn how to remember your loved one and remember the great times you shared together. In the days, weeks, months and even years after losing someone special, you can find ways to grieve and move on.

Celebrate His or Her Life

Far too many people think that the grieving process is a time to focus on everything that person will miss out on and how much they miss that individual. Now is actually a good time to celebrate his or her life. Do something memorable that lets you remember all the great moments you had together. Gather a group of family and friends together to do something in honor of your loved one. You might share dinner at his or her favorite restaurant or go camping at a campground the person loved. Share stories and memories together of your missing loved one.

Do Something Unexpected

When thinking about your loved one, see if there is anything that person always wanted to do and never got the chance. Maybe a friend looked forward to seeing a film starring her favorite actor, or maybe you had a father who always wanted to go skydiving. No matter how crazy it might seem, you can do that completely unexpected thing in honor or your loved one's memory. Whether it's skydiving, getting a tattoo, visiting a foreign country or meeting a celebrity, you can do it for your loved one.

Memorialize Your Loved One

Grieve your loss at the same time that you memorialize the loved one who passed on. Add a new Christmas ornament to tree in honor of that person, or bring home a sculpture of an angel or something similar. The Willow Tree Collection and similar collections have beautiful sculptures and figurines that are perfect for those going through the grieving process. You may want to place a memorial marker in your garden or a paved stone with the person's name on the top too. Though it may take some time, you will eventually remember your loved one without always feeling so sad.

Wonderful Birthday to My Hubby!

Just wanna express my happiness for having a husband that really cares for his family. I know our marriage is not a bed of roses. We do have some thorns along the way, but having a husband that is God-fearing, responsible, and really thought of family first before anything else makes it easier for me to face challenges in life.

I thank God for giving him more wisdom, for his goal to know more about Him, and for all his effort to become a better person. He has big dreams about our family's future and I will always be here to support him and stand by him no matter what.

Helpful Ways to Mourn

The loss of a loved one can be extremely difficult. The pain many experience can be without words. Fortunately, people can receive comfort and strength as they mourn the death of an individual.

Start to Share

As difficult as it may seem, it can really help people to share memories that they had with the individual who just passed away. Some memories may be extremely funny or a happy experience that many would appreciate. Other memories may be tender, such as one person helping someone else who faced extreme difficulties.

Services Help

A service at a funeral home and one at a place of worship can help mourning individuals as they deal with the pain. Funeral directors, such as funeral director castle hill, pastors and other individuals are experienced with helping people who hurt. A service can be created that allows people to share memories. A service can focus on the afterlife and on the hope that an individual had.

Getting Together

People need times to get together as they mourn, such as a visitation, fellowship after a service or a gathering at a home. There can be times where people are together and no words are said. There are other times that a room is full of happiness. Both times are fine. Both examples can help people process their pain.

Death has never been an easy experience. However, there are wonderful helps that can provide people with what they need. It can be the first step to moving forward in life.

Summer Home Maintenance

Summer is the perfect time to catch up on home maintenance and repairs before fall and winter weather arrives. Getting things done early will help keep your home well-maintained and comfortable the rest of the year. Take a look at some important summer maintenance tips for your home.

Service Your HVAC System

If you have a central heating and air conditioning system, make sure it's cooling properly for summer and heating properly for fall and winter. For best results, schedule an inspection with a professional HVAC technician who can install a clean filter, check operating parts, and clean the duct system. You'll want to make sure there are no cracks or rust in your heat exchanger before you fire up your furnace.

Wash Your Windows

Summer is a great time to wash all of your windows, so you can enjoy the sunshine. To make window washing easier and faster, invest in a quality squeegee with a long handle attachment for high windows. For best cleaning results, use a good glass cleaner or mild, soapy water, then dry with a squeegee or lint free shammy to avoid streaks.

Check Your Roof

Roof shingles can take a beating throughout the year with winter storms, rain and high winds. While the weather is still warm, go up on your roof to inspect for damages. If you notice, missing, cracked or curled shingles, replace them to avoid roof leaks. Clear all debris like twigs, branches and leaves from the roof and the gutters.

Clean Your Outdoor Grill

For charcoal grills, empty out ashy residue, then clean the entire grill with hot, soapy water. Let the grill dry completely before relighting. If you have a gas grill, leave the grill on high heat for 30 minutes with the lid closed. After it cools down, clean all racks with a grill brush. If you want to install a new gas grill, you can find contractors here to help you with proper installation.

Clean Your Front Porch

By cleaning up your front porch, you'll create an inviting entrance to your home. First, sweep and wash the porch, walls, overhang, and front door. Polish the door hardware, wipe down furniture, wash chair cushions and put down a new welcome mat. Make sure your doorbell works and replace any burned out light bulbs in porch and entry fixtures. Replace old, wilted plants and flowers with fresh, new ones.

Getting A First Class Beauty Education

Do It Right The First Time

When it comes to getting a first class beauty education, one thing is clear: It's important to do it right the first time. This way, you won't have to spend more money back tracking in order to get the skills and qualifications that you should have gotten the first time around. And it's certainly reassuring for a student to know that they won't have to give up in despair of ever getting a degree because of financial constraints.

Realize Your Dreams Without Breaking Your Bank

No one wants to be in the unenviable position of being half way through a degree when they suddenly have to stop because of lack of funds. This is why it is extremely important for you to choose a school that will help you bankroll your education as well as your subsequent career. There are many reputable beauty and esthetician schools, such as the Ron King Academy, that can help you realize your dreams without breaking your bank.

Make Sure You Check The Qualifications

When you decide to apply to any professional beauty or cosmetology school, it's a good idea to check their qualifications. You can do this by researching their name on the web. Be sure to read reviews posted by actual former students, as well as reviews posted on independent sites. The Better Business Bureau is an excellent place to check up on the credentials of any school that is offering an excellent deal that almost sounds too good to be true.

If They Don't Have The Credentials, Don't Pay Them

If a beauty school doesn't have credentials from the Cosmetology Board in their state, it's a sure thing that they are a fraudulent organization. Any beauty or cosmetology school that is legitimate will have these credentials. You can easily check the website of the Cosmetology Board to determine whether this organization is listed as being accredited and certified by them.

It's Time To Safely Realize Your Dream

Above all else, remember to spend your time and money wisely. Make sure that the school you are considering offers you excellent value for your money, as well as a legitimate program of job placement. After all, there's a huge world waiting for you once the doors of the Academy close behind you. Spend your money wisely, and make sure that you choose wisely.

Making a Connection with Your Teen

As your son gets older, it has become harder to communicate. You feel as if he is drifting away from you. He no longer opens up about anything, is often holed up in his room, and spends more time away from home. You feel like you need to build a bridge before you completely lose touch. You keep reaching out, but he closes the door on all of your efforts. You need to act now before it's too late.

Try an Intervention
If you can't make any headway with your teen on your own, try an intervention. Gather together family members and close friends to sit down with your son. Tell him you care and you're worried about him. Try and find out why there is this growing distance between you. When your child is in trouble, you want to do something about it. You can't sit back and watch him struggle.

Get Professional Help
Look for advice from the experts. Talk to your family physician and ask for any recommendations for counseling services. Consider going to group therapy as a family, especially if there are changes in behavior and emotional outbursts. If you feel like your child is on the brink of disaster, you need to do everything you can to head it off at the pass.

Ride Out the Storm
When your home becomes a battlefield and verbal fights start to escalate with your teen, you need to do everything possible to stay calm. The last thing you want is to see your teen run away from his problems. Be firm. Be persistent. Most importantly of all, be present. Your son needs to know that you are not going anywhere.

Consider a School for Troubled Youth
If all of your efforts fail, you can take the next step and try a new location for your son, like the Wood Creek Academy. Enrolling in a program for troubled youth may be the last resort to finally overcome the struggles that your teen is experiencing. In a remote, secure setting, your son can learn coping skills and work through his problems. With the guidance of competent staff members, surrounded by others with similar problems, it is possible for your teen to find his way back to you. It will take time and effort, but you can have a relationship again.

Create Stunning DIY Apparel Using Large Men's Shirts

Many thrift-store enthusiasts end up with an abundance of items that they're not entirely sure what to do with. This can include a number of large men's button up shirts thanks to the appeal of this truly classic style. While these shirts can look great all on their own, larger varieties may prove a bit too unwieldy for everyday wear.

In this event, crafting your very own high-fashion items from large men's shirts is the perfect option. This involves keeping attractive features intact while adding a few feminine touches sure to turn heads. Of course, there are a number of great design ideas available for ambitious crafters seeking to look their absolute best all year long.

Design a Fun and Flirty Dress

Summer is the perfect time for fun and flirty dresses, which can help keep you cool while also contributing to a chic aesthetic. To this end, making a few key alterations to the oversized men's shirt of your choosing can afford a one-of-a-kind style straight from the pages of world-class fashion houses. This entails removing the sleeves and modifying the waist to afford a figure-flattering silhouette. You can even add sultry accents like a cutaway back panel for increased appeal.

Create an Eye-Catching Crop Top for Warmer Weather

Cute crop tops are another great item for warm weather, and starting with a funky-patterned oversized shirt will help expand your fashion options. Unlike other DIY projects, creating a crop top requires very little work. In most cases, cutting and hemming the sleeves is about all that is required. In order to ensure your crop top is the perfect length, unbutton shirt to your waist and tie accordingly.

Turn Larger Shirts Into a Form-Fitting Dress

You can even take bulky oversized shirts and turn them into form-fitting dresses. Unlike the summer
dress design, it's best to take an ultra-large shirt (think XXL) to achieve the desired length. Once you've made any minor alterations to sleeves and other areas, pin the shirt front and back so it fits snugly to your body. After this is complete, it's a good idea to try on the shirt before doing any sewing, which will help ensure it's the proper size.

Add Stunning Accents to Increase Appeal

Adding a few key accents to oversized shirts can also make a real impact. One advanced design involves adding ruffles and zippers for a far more feminine look. Halter tops are also popular, and these modifications can include altering the back of shirts to feature fun accents. Some crafters take excess material left over after removing sleeves to fashion things like braids and bows, and these can be attached via sewing machine. Adding embellishments to collars and other areas is a great option for novice designers, as these alterations are relatively easy to undertake.

Re-Fashioning Is All the Rage

Securing unique apparel is the goal of most fashion enthusiasts, and this can be difficult when buying things right off the rack. Fortunately, re-fashioning ideas like the above can go a long way towards creating an individual look perfect for all types of situations. While it may take a bit of work, making something brand new out of existing items can afford a real sense of accomplishment, while also helping preserve the environment.

Three Ways To Make Your Good Hotel Great

When it comes to running a hotel, there's nothing that great about just being "good." To truly impress your customers and optimize your conversion rates, your hotel needs to be absolutely phenomenal. To take your hotel from good to great, consider implementing the following strategies now:

1. Optimize Your Staff's Uniforms.

Appearance is important in the hotel industry. In fact, your prospective clients will oftentimes judge the quality of your hotel based on how "sharp" your staff looks. Since this is the case, be sure that you're investing in high quality hotel front desk uniforms. You can purchase aesthetically appealing uniforms from companies like Averill's Sharper Uniforms.

2. Invest In Internet Marketing.

These days, people go online to book their hotels all the time. Thus if you're not already advertising online, this should be at the top of your priority list. And if you are advertising online, you should make a point to optimize your current internet marketing strategies. The best way to accomplish this objective is to hire a team of well-versed, versatile, super savvy digital marketers. These individuals will be able to devise and implement a customized campaign that will effectively connect you with members of your target market.

3. Focus On Self-Optimization.

In addition to investing in internet marketing, it's important for you to focus on self-optimization to ensure that your hotel functions phenomenally. Although many people know that being healthy and happy increases productivity in one's work life, many individuals do not implement the strategies necessary to optimize wellness and facilitate personal growth. Don't fall into this trap. Instead, focus on becoming the best you possible so that you can be productive and positive while you are at work. If you're overwhelmed at the thought of making big lifestyle changes in order to be a better you, remember that taking baby steps is perfectly fine. Something as simple as hiring a personal trainer and completing one workout session per week can result in significant, positive changes in your physical appearance and cognitive capacities.

Hotel owners that want to really "wow" prospective clients need to consistently bring something different and dynamic to the table. To put this business-building process in motion, consider the value of optimizing your staff's uniforms, investing in internet marketing, and focusing on self-optimization. These strategies will help take your hotel from good to great so that you can obtain the phenomenal conversion rates you desire.

Lego Friends Birthday Party for Our 5 Year Old

This past April our youngest turned 5 years old. She told me she wanted a LEGO® Friends theme for her birthday party. I am so glad of the internet, especially Pinterest, that I was able to grab some party ideas with this theme.

For decorations, I incorporated different ideas from different pinterest pins. For my banner I printed it out from as well as different coloring activity papers and pictures that I used for decorations.

As for my backdrop for my dessert table, I used 3 different colors of plastic table cover; lavender, turquoise, and pink and used small paper plates of the same color to create lego pieces backdrop.

In our family room, I put up a photo booth/area so the visitors can have their pictures taken. I bought props such as oversized eye glasses for the girls to use. Not only the little girls enjoyed it but the moms as well. The backdrop for the photo booth I used crepe paper streamers in turquoise, lavender, and pink and balloons in baby blue and pink. I attached cut out lego logos from my girls lego boxes as well as pictures of Lego Friends characters from

A friend of ours who makes cake made our little girl a Lego Friends inspired birthday cake. Our little girl was so ecstatic upon seeing her cake.

For games and activities, I had a coloring station and whoever color the nicest can win a prize. I also had a station for guess how many legos in a jar. Who can guess the nearest number will win. The kids also had fun during the build the lego contest. I did not have a pinata and a great idea I got in pinterest is the punch a box. It was a hit with the kids too.

Planning for a kids' birthday party can be exhausting but so glad and thankful for resources online. It was fun doing it and our girls enjoyed helping me in the process.

Simple Ways To Prevent Tick And Mosquito Bites

There's nothing as relaxing as sitting outside and enjoying the warm summer months; when the weather gets warmer, people tend to make it a point to enjoy the outdoors. If you spend time outdoors, then you know that some bugs like ticks and mosquitoes are inexplicably attracted to people. That would be fine if it was only an inconvenience, but bugs like these spread disease.

Protecting yourself and your family from tick and mosquito bites prevents itching, but it also lessens your chances of getting sick. Try these simple tips to help rid your yard of potentially harmful insects:

Get Rid Of Standing Water

If you have a problem with mosquitoes, getting rid of standing water around your home helps to reduce their numbers. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in still water, so if you make your yard inhospitable, they'll look for somewhere else to live.

Get rid of old or empty forgotten items like tires, buckets and toys that are harboring water in your yard, and turn them upside down so water isn't able to pool inside of them. Make sure to check your yard for any objects that may be collecting water; this means you need to empty flower pots, wading pools and garbage cans.

Remove Brush And Tall Grass

When it comes to ticks, they love hiding in tall grass and brush. If you want to reduce the amount of ticks in your yard, you'll need to cut back brush, rake leaves and clear tall grass. Also, if you have pets, you always need to keep an eye on them to make sure that there aren't any ticks in their fur; check them regularly to make sure that they aren't bringing ticks inside of your home.

Always make sure to keep your lawn well manicured, and use something like gravel or wood chips to separate your patio or play equipment from grassy areas. This won't completely get rid of them, but it'll make your yard inhospitable, so it'll greatly cut down on their numbers.

Get Professional Help

The best mosquito and tick treatment is done by a professional. A professional can come to your home and treat all the problem areas in your yard without harsh chemicals. They can use things like essential oils and fragrances to repel these bugs, and when they do this, you don't have to worry about your children or pets being exposed to poisonous chemicals.

Tulip Festival in Washington State

We've been living here in the Pacific Northwest for over 5 years now, but this spring was the first time we went to a tulip festival in Skagit county. I've seen pictures of the beautiful rows of tulips in different colors from friends' pictures and was very envious. I would love to see those beauties as well.

Every start of the spring season for the past years I planned of going but timing is not always on my side. So this time since hubby is already here we pushed it through. On April 11 the fam bam took the drive to Tulip Town in Skagit Valley, Mt. Vernon. The area have different tulip fields and we visited Tulip Town. The flowers were just too gorgeous to see. They have different varieties of tulips in different colors. Below are some pictures I took with my phone.

Tulip festival is held yearly, so we will surely go back there next spring and will go to a different tulip field/garden in Skagit Valley.

Becoming a Barber

Where Can People Train To Become A Barber?

If you've ever wondered if a barber school exists where you can go to learn this noble trade, then you'll be pleased to learn that the answer is an emphatic yes! The fact of the matter is that many schools exist throughout the United States that are dedicated to the purpose of teaching thousands of young men and women the basics of professional barbering, grooming, and hair styling. If you think that the trade of barber is the right one for you, then the time has never been more right to sign up for a professional education.

Why Do You Need To Go To A School To Get A Barber Job?

Of course, at this point, you might be asking yourself, "Why do I need to go to a school to get a job as a barber?" The answer is, unless you have an uncle who's willing to give you on the job training and then take you on as a helper in his shop, you're not likely to simply convince people you're a great barber without any proof to back you up.

Getting a certificate of graduation from an approved educational facility is your best calling card when it comes to obtaining gainful employment in the industry. And if you're looking to open up your own barber shop or hair styling salon somewhere down the road, an official degree is an excellent item to show to a bank when you apply for a loan.

What Kind Of School Do You Go To In Order To Become A Barber?

If you are interested in pursuing the trade of barber, your best bet is to go to a professional academy where you can focus on acquiring the skills and experience that you will need to enter this profession. The arrangement is one that is very similar to enrolling in college. In fact, the eventual result is much the same, as you will receive a diploma at the end of your studies that will show potential employers that you possess the necessary skills and training to do the job.

Many schools that train barbers, estheticians, and hair stylists also offer job placement opportunities that will help graduating students gain excellent employment. For example, the Ron King Academy is well known and highly praised for the help it gives graduating students in this vital area.

Choosing Carpet Cleaning Services

Rugs and carpets are often among the most frequently used items in a home or workplace. Therefore, regular cleaning is of paramount importance. Failure to maintain clean carpeting and rugs can not only make a room unsightly and unhygienic, but allergens may also become trapped in flooring fibers over time. Not only is having carpets and rugs cleaned essential to maintenance and upkeep, but the manner in which the rugs and carpets are cleaned may also have significant implications.

Preserving the Environment

Consumers are increasingly choosing eco-friendly carpet cleaning service providers. The growing trend is partly explained by the emergence of environmental sustainability as a common household topic of interest over the past several years. More and more households and businesses are aiming to use cleaning supplies and services that involve fewer chemicals that may harm the earth's natural resources. As a result, consumers are now asking more in-depth questions about the products and procedures carpet cleaning services are using.

Preventing Potential Health Impact

In addition to becoming more conscious of how the use of certain chemicals will affect the environment, consumers have also become more interested rug and carpet cleaning solutions that do not involve the use of chemicals that may harm humans and pets. This is especially true of homes and businesses in which small children are present. Consumers frequently forego services that require the application of harsh or unknown chemicals in favor of gentler cleaning solutions that are less likely to trigger allergies, release toxins, or post other potential health risks.

When considering carpet and area rug cleaning Washington DC residents must carefully weight their objectives and thoroughly research the cleaning techniques companies offer as well as the products they use in the course of a cleaning. To gain the vital information that is essential to making an informed decision, customers are advised to call several service providers to inquire about their cleaning products and techniques. Requesting references or comparing online reviews may also be helpful in choosing the right rug and carpet cleaning service. Furthermore, independently researching the cleaning chemicals and methods a potential service provider may use can also help customers gain the information they need with less bias.

Finding the Best Deals on Clothes as a Broke College Student

As you settle into college life on a shoestring budget, it may occur to you that your high school wardrobe of jeans and oversized hoodies isn't going to cut it anymore. Whether you want to find some cute outfits for parties or need something to wear at that casual job you snagged, having the right clothing is essential. Here are some tips for getting them at deep discounts.

Don't Be Afraid of the Thrift Shop

Macklemore encouraged us all the pop some tags, so you should heed his advice. Thrift shops sometimes contain outrageous clothing for pennies on the dollar. Everything from leather coats to sweet t-shirts can be found among the racks, so make thrifting your new hobby and save big.

Watch for Sales and Coupons

If you're absolutely in love with a particular store's wares, sign up for their online newsletter and keep an eye out for the big sales. Also glance at each email they send, as it could be a great coupon. In smaller shops that may not have an online presence, ask about punch-card programs and other discounts for frequent shoppers.

Check Out Online Retailers

Online retailers often don't have storefronts and other overhead like physical stores do, and they pass the savings on to you. You can find out more about your favorite designers and brands by running a search, then checking into retailers that cater to your style.

For broke college students, financing new clothes can be a concern. These tips will help you find the fashion you need without selling plasma or sharing textbooks to do it!

Superbowl XLIX on February 1st

I am a 12 and so excited for the match on Sunday, February 1, for the Superbowl XLIX between Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. Both teams are remarkable in their own right. The best offense and the best defense in the league will surely be a great game to watch.

The NFC Championship match up between Seahawks and Green Bay Packers was a nail-biting game and a great comeback of Seahawks thus beating the Packers at 28 - 22 scores. The Seahawks pulled it through in the end. We were watching it in a friends house and were all losing our voices from cheering when the Hawks got the lead in just a little over 2 minutes time left in the 4th quarter.

This coming Sunday we will be in the same friend's house to watch the Superbowl and we are rooting for Seahawks. Hoping and praying for them to bring home the Lombardi trophy for the second time here in the Pacific Northwest. #GoHawks!

Top Geeky Books for 2015

There were some brilliant books released in 2014 and it already seems as though 2015 is going to be as good if not better.

If you are looking forward to settling down with a few cracking good reads in the coming years then here are a few titles to bear in mind.

Pocket Apocalypse – Seanan McGuire

This 2015 paperback release follows the adventures of cryptozoologist Alexander Price. Leaving behind his tangled family and personal life he heads to Australia. The adventures and the danger really pick up once he gets Down Under. You can expect a cracking pace, some interesting twists and lots of werewolves in this book. It definitely sounds like it could brighten up a few of our days this year.

I am Princess X – Cherie Priest

The intriguing premise for this book is that a couple of friends create a comic strip style heroine called Princess X together. One of them dies and the Princess comic idea ends with her death. However, years later the surviving friend sees Princess X images everywhere. Is her supposedly dead friend still alive? The book promises to be illustrated with comic book images and sounds like it could be a fascinating read for fans of the comic strip genre.

Cold Iron – Stina Leicht

It´s a June 2015 release date for this new book. Cold Iron follows a couple of royal twins who get swept up in an epic fantasy adventure. It promises to be filled with battles, magic and even some pirates. This book sounds as though it could be a really good new read and a fine way to get caught up in a fantasy world for a few days of reading.

Binary Star – Sarah Gerard

One of the most eagerly awaited books of 2015, this is the tale of a mixed-up couple who go on a road trip and discover vegananarchism along the way. The critics who have had a sneak preview of the book have pretty much all been impressed and there is a feeling that it could be one of the most exciting and successful books of the coming year.

Find Me – Laura Van Den Berg

The author of this book is better known for her short stories but Find Me could be a big hit in 2015. The basic idea is that a young woman with some problems in her life appears to be the only person who is immune to a terrible epidemic sweeping the land.  Expect a lot of dark humour and some exciting action as our heroine travels across the turmoil of the epidemic ridden US to try and find her mother.

The Girl on the Train – Paula Hawkins

This new thriller has a January release date and already has a film option attached to it, so a lot of people are really looking forward to reading it. The Girl on the Train is about a girl who gets unwittingly drawn into a murder mystery on the usual daily commute to work.
